Certainly when thinking of characters in Alice in Wonderland the Queen of Hearts is most intriguing, and a Queen of Hearts costume is generally at the top of the list at the Halloween party. She was dreadfully short-tempered and frequently yelled “off with their heads” when anyone nearby irritated her. However, this queen did have one rather peculiar preference in playing games, in addition to chopping off heads and that was the game of croquet; however, she had the most unique set. In this strange croquet game, hedgehogs are used instead of balls, and live flamingoes became the mallets. This becomes somewhat of a frustrating game because mallets keep turning their heads to watch what the balls are running off towards.

The long black sleeves are puffed at the shoulders and they are trimmed in a very pretty gold brocade. The front of the full length skirt has a peplum skirt in black over the red velvet 
skirt. The border of the skirt has trim that is black and white striped with three red hearts surrounded by gold embroidery over the white satin. A black velvet choker that has green jewels embedded in the fabric is available, and a great sequin studded tiara is also included. A tulle hooped petticoat is also included with the outfit. When this Queen of Hearts snaps “Off with their heads” run and hide, because she’s annoyed. This has a long gold skirt with an inset of red adorned with gold hearts. The top has a black bodice adorned with gold fan-shaped embroidery. The sleeves are puffed at the shoulders and extend to long red trimmed sleeves with lace at the wrists. A white high collar trimmed in lace adorns her throat and neck. This outfit comes in small, medium, and large for under $60.

Even though the Queen of Hearts expects to always have servants catering and bowing to her every whim, there are several accessories that would come in useful. A red heart purse is perfect for keeping all of her supplies in one neat place. The purse has red, black, and gold trim on a white heart-shaped purse and it is adorned with a large red heart in the center. It also has a gold handle to make toting the article more convenient.
